Global Samaritan Resources hosts a Community Book Room with thousands of books! We believe that books have the power to educate and open new worlds, connect individuals and bring joy to the soul. We also believe that we have something for every reader!
Locally, the Community Book Room provides opportunities for children, families, teachers, foster care organizations, the elderly and the most avid readers to acquire good quality used books for FREE! Donor dollars, which are often hard to come by, are spent on these basic needs when they could be allocated to other budget areas. Global Samaritan Resources recognizes the integral role that churches and non-profit organizations play in the Abilene community. With a desire to assist these organizations as they serve those in need in our community, we have established a Non-Profit Resource Center (NPRC).

Local Abilene and Big Country teachers love their students and each year, from their own pockets, they spend hundreds of dollars to make their classrooms welcoming to their students. At the same time, each year, thousands of dollars worth of school supplies, educational materials, classroom decor, books and more are thrown into landfills. Global Samaritan Resources seeks to bridge that gap by helping teachers recycle and repurpose what they no longer need. In January and July, GSR hosts a Teacher Resource Room where area educators can acquire new and used materials for their classrooms.
Global Samaritan Resources also serves as a member of the Big Country VOAD (Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster) which entails assisting residents of West Central Texas with planning, training, and preparing for disaster events. Some of our roles include partnering with the city Emergency Management Coordinator as a designated location for the construction and distribution of sandbags for potential floods and storing cots for emergency shelters.

Helping Local Non-profits
As a member of Abilene's Basic Needs Network, we help organizations help people. Because we do not employ caseworkers or social workers ourselves, we coordinate with many partners across the region to connect our neighbors with the things they need, to increase their quality of life.
We use our logistics expertise and enormous warehouse to store, organize and stage donated items for when they are needed. Our inventory can provide a myriad of items to include, but not limited to, medical equipment and supplies, office furniture, equipment and materials, and school furniture and supplies. This could mean anything from a wheelchair for one individual to complete office furniture for a newly opened community rehabilitation shelter.
