THE ABOVE & BEYOND CAMPAIGN 2026
The Need...
In 1999, Global Samaritan Resources began in an old, rented grocery store with one simple mission – to demonstrate God's love by providing logistics and need-based solutions, through partners, serving those affected by hardship, crisis, or disaster. From our initial days we have worked to utilize our logistical experience to collect, repurpose and distribute used and new goods to churches, schools and non-profits to assist them in meeting the needs of individuals both around the globe and right here in Abilene, TX. In 2007, thanks to a generous gift from an individual donor, we were able to purchase our 55,000 sq. foot warehouse.
When the facility was purchased, a significant amount of work was required to meet our needs. At that time, the GSR leadership utilized volunteers to cut out and remove old, rusted pipes and gas lines. Local businesses donated the labor to repair and lube the garage doors and paint was donated to paint the exterior and interior of the warehouse. It was all done by volunteer help. Unfortunately, the roof was never addressed! Industry professionals estimate the roof to be over 30 years. When it does rain in West Texas, our roof leaks. Water pours down multiple inside walls. Gaps around the four large, cracked skylights allow water to flow into the building. On top of the roof, water pools due to inadequate drainpipes to move water off the surface and away from the building. There are areas within the warehouse that are already unusable or soon will be. Bottom line...the roof leaks and it is time to address this issue.
In October 2025, Global Samaritan Resources quietly launched the Above & Beyond Capital Campaign to raise $750,000 to undertake the complete replacement of the warehouse roof and other projects that will position GSR and ensure our ability to serve for decades to come!

Project Scope...
In the spring of 2026, Global Samaritan Resources will begin a significant warehouse improvement. The cornerstone of that improvement is a full replacement of our warehouse roof. While we replace the roof, we are also planning to install two industrial exhaust fans. As our warehouse is not climate controlled, there is no way for the summer heat to escape and the exhaust fans will pull some of the heat, and truck fumes, up and out of the warehouse. We believe that a total roof replacement and the addition of these exhaust fans is essential for the continued operation!
While the roof replacement is the cornerstone of our capital campaign, there are other needs that also must be met. In 2021, following a terrible freeze that led to burst pipes in the office building, Global Samaritan Resources used the insurance money to renovate the 1st floor of the office building. With the beginning of that renovation, it was discovered that the flooring and ceiling tile in the building was asbestos. With the renovation of the 1st floor, the asbestos was abated, but nothing was done with the 2nd floor. The second floor of our office building is a large open space and would be a great place for volunteers to do sorting and packing projects in a climate controlled environment (as it is heated and cooled), however, to have people working on that floor, we want to make sure that it is a safe environment. So, to do that, we need to have the asbestos abated on the 2nd floor and install new flooring and ceiling panels. Additionally, we are planning to expand our Community Book Room by building onto the back of the warehouse and adding an additional 1,200 sq feet in order to add a dedicated children's reading area and additional shelving. These projects, and other small ones, are included in our Above & Beyond Capital Campaign Budget.

Funding Update...
As of the end of January 2026, God has blessed Global Samaritan Resources with $463,926 of the $750,000 needed to complete the Above & Beyond Capital Campaign. These early gifts equal 62% of the funded needed and are comprised of donations made by the GSR Staff & Board of Trustees (note that 100% of the staff and Trustees have donated towards the campaign) and our amazing foundation partners.
In February 2026, we will publicly launch the Above & Beyond Capital Campaign and invite our friends and donors to join us in raising the remaining $286,074 to complete our warehouse improvement projects.
