Water Well Drilling/Water Purification

GSR's involvement in Water Well Drill Drilling began in Zambia, Africa in 2005. Zambia, in sub-Saharan Africa is plagued with frequent droughts. Few “bore holes” exist in bush areas and man-made impoundments are scarce, which leaves villagers to scrounge for water from polluted streams and depressions.

With a foundation grant, GSR purchased a small drilling rig, compressor and other essential equipment, had it shipped to Zambia, trained indigenous staff, and started drilling in a 50 kilometer area of Namwianga Mission near Kalomo. Success was limited due to a granite layer over much of Southern Africa; therefore the equipment was moved to Northwest Zambia where it is being used today.

A very high percentage of illnesses in Africa are caused by contaminated water. It is critical that non-profits such as GSR continue to make the provision of clean water a high priority.

Global Samaritan Resources continues to receive requests for well drilling in other countries. Therefore, with adequate funding, GSR will expand its efforts in this important project area.
