] = "n"; ?> Global Samaritan 2010 | Pricing Policy

GSR is a non-profit, SERVICE organization, therefore, GSR is committed to partnering with customers to provide humanitarian aid at the lowest possible cost and yet stay in business.

Cost recovery is the primary concern. There are four main categories of costs associated with utilizing the experience and services of GSR.

  • 1. Freight charges. These charges are usually door (our facility) to door (terminal location) and will vary according to destination. These charges are the responsibility of the customer seeking Global's assistance. We will usually seek two to three bids from Freight Forwarders to get the lowest cost for the customer. On rare occasions, we can get free freight from government sources. For more information regarding this possibility, you may give us a call. In disaster relief situations, GSR will seek to help find funding and/or partner with in country PVO's to ensure expedited arrival of precious supplies.
  • 2. "Pass through" charges. These are charges GSR incurs relative to the acquisition (e.g., gasoline costs, etc.) and repair of items requested for shipment. These charges are usually minimal. Inquire if you desire more information.
  • 3. GSR Administrative overhead. There is a $1,000 per a 40' or a 20' container. This charge helps GSR cover its administrative overhead associated with being in business, working with Freight Forwarders, and preparing manifests and other documents.
  • 4. Pallet or crate/box charges. Many customers bring a significant portion of the contents to be shipped to the GSR warehouse. GSR generally does not charge for its existing inventory. However, there may be $150 per pallet charge for handling and preparing (sorting, weighing, shrink wrapping, etc.) materials for shipment. In some cases, large, bulky and loose items that may be purchased on a per item basis. Customers desiring to ship smaller amounts of material (crates, boxes, etc.) need to discuss pricing with GSR. With smaller shipping of goods (crates, boxes, etc…), price is usually dependent on the particular items and destination. For further information on any of the above, please check with GSR staff.

This statement cannot cover all contingencies; therefore, exact charges may vary from the above. GSR will do its best in packing a container, but cannot guarantee the condition of its contents upon arrival. GSR is not responsible for any charges associated with customs clearance, storage of container while being cleared, or transportation beyond the final destination designated on the Bill of Lading.
