What is the Community Book Room?
Global Samaritan Resources hosts a Community Book Room with thousands of books! We believe that books have the power to educate and open new worlds, connect individuals and bring joy to the soul. We also believe that we have something for every reader!
Locally, the Community Book Room provides opportunities for children, families, teachers, foster care organizations, the elderly and the most avid readers to acquire good quality used books for FREE! On average, Global Samaritan Resources distributes between 2,000 and 3,000 books each month to our guests.
When is the Community Book Room Open?
During the school year, our Community Book Room is open on the 1st Wednesday of each month (September to May) and in the summer, the Community Book Room switches to a weekly event.
Summer 2026 Openings:
This summer, our Community Book Room will be open from 9:00 AM to 12 PM on the following Wednesdays:
June 3rd, 10th, 17th and 24th July 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th

How can I donate books to the Community Book Room?
We are always in need of more books. Especially KIDS BOOKS! To make donating books more convenient, we have placed Book Donation Drop Boxes around Abilene. You can easily donate books any day at one of these locations:
Big Country Supply - 1425 Styles Blvd (convenient to McMurry University & HEB area)
Rockin Rollerz Craft Burgers - 1055 N. Judge Ely Blvd (drop box located in front of Rockin Rollerz & Life of Pie and is convenient to Abilene Christian University and NE Abilene)
Southern Hills Church of Christ - 3666 Buffalo Gap Road (drop box located adjacent to playground)
If you have a large donation of books, please call us at (325) 676-9991 to arrange a time for you to come to our warehouse and drop off your donation of books, M-F from 8:00 to Noon.
