Tough Here, but Far Tougher There
While we are in the middle of a recovery (so I am told) and the stock market has come back by 50%, many of us in the US are still worried about jobs, investments, and other stuff. It is good to know that we have a Lord who is walking with us, even if we have to walk in the "valley of death."
But what of the lower end of economic humans. When America tanks, the rest of the world suffers bitterly.
Between March 2007 and March 2008, global food prices increased an average of 43%. The increase was especially hard on 1 billion of the world, that is one person in six, who now are subsisting on $1 per day. Of that number 162 million people are trying to survive on less than $0.50 per day. These are USAID statistics. Honestly, I did not make them up.
So in our land of surplus, in our land of Christianity, shouldn't we think hard about our prayer life, and our charitable nature. I don't have any surprise answers, or grand theology to offer. I just know that the Master gave all, loves all and lives in His people. May His Holy Spirit guide us all to right answers, and right.
GSR wants to be part of the solution. Come and partner with us.
